A colleague just Tweeted me this Centers for Disease Control and Prevention map, which, over the course of 30 seconds, shows you exactly how fat America has become since 1985.

So how bad is it?
Colorado, where presumably everyone still hikes and eats granola, is the only state in the Union where obesity rates are under 20 percent of the population. Three states — Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama, all Southern states, which tells you something — have obesity rates at or above 30 percent of the population.
