Who knew there was so much to pouring a good beer? You just put a glass under the tap and watch the malty goodness ooze out, right? All too often the answer is no. Draught systems are tricky things and require some degree of expertise. Our suspicion, based on long experience, is that DC’s beer pourers need some tips. The Brewer’s Association has been kind enough to put it all in a handy manual, available free. Released at the recent Craft Brewer’s Conference in Boston, we hope this little ditty will do what it’s supposed to do: ensure that beer tastes like it should. Even if you’re just an enthusiast with geeky tastes in reading material, you too might be interested in taking a look at the Draught Beer Quality Manual (PDF). It’s not a sexy title, but it just may save you from drinking crappy beer.
