Kids are perfect little prisms through which we can view our own neurotic tendencies. Sure, we can watch this video and think, “Awww, isn’t it cute how these tykes can’t seem to focus on anything else but that stupid marshmallow.” But then ask yourself: When’s the last time you had an urge for, say, a candy bar or cookie and couldn’t get the thought out of your head until you went to the damn vending machine and choked one down? When the temptation enters your head, it’s almost impossible to think about anything else — even potential future rewards.
