Munich’s Oktoberfest, that bacchanal of beer consumption that seems to draw a disproportionate number of Irish and Australians, ended yesterday. But fear not, we Americans can never get too much of a good thing. So it’s with great expectation that we’d like to give you early warning of what promises to be a great afternoon for beer next Saturday at Rustico in Alexandria. Running from noon until 6pm in the parking lot behind the restaurant will be a pseudo-Oktoberfest, featuring beer, food, and bands. Admission is free, but you’ll have to buy tickets onsite if you want to consume anything… which we expect you will. Beers on offer will include Southern Tier’s PumKing Ale, Climax’s Oktoberfest, Schlenkerla’s Urbock Unfiltered, Sierra Nevada’s Yakima Harvest Ale, Clipper City’s Heavy Seas Prosit Imperial Pumpkin in a traditional cask, Avery’s The Kaiser, and Wolaver’s Will Stevens’ Organic Pumpkin Ale. And, if you’re looking for a new hog, you can also enter a raffle to win a 2007 Harley Davidson Heritage SoftTail Classic. The drawing for this and other prizes will be at 4:30pm.
