Sink the Bismarck! from BrewDog on Vimeo.

Now this is getting silly. Quick on the heels of an announcement by German brewery Schorschbräu that its new Schorschbock 40%, a ridiculously strong Eisbock, had displaced BrewDog’s Tactical Nuclear Penguin as the world’s strongest beer, an angry BrewDog has launched the next salvo in the escalating beer arms race. According to a write-up by the BBC, the brewery’s new Sink the Bismarck beer, clearly aimed at its German rival, weighs in at 41% ABV!! (Wait, isn’t that Scotch? It might as well be. Still, BrewDog’s calling it an IPA.) What does this mean for Tactical Nuclear Penguin? Listen hard, and you might hear a bugler playing taps. BrewDog’s James Watts declared, via Twitter, “Tactical Nuclear Penguin is dead.”
