No, there is not some dude named Oliver putting on a sex show with monkeys in that beautiful chandeliered room upstairs at ChurchKey tonight, although that would be interesting. Oliver Breweries, who Y&H has been fussing over a bit lately, will have a special keg tapped at ChurchKey tonight.

The English-ale-focused brewery located at Pratt Street Alehouse in Baltimore has had plenty of casks around D.C., but this is their first keg in the area. So if you are one of those “cask beer is too warm, too flat, wah, wah, wah” people, you have no excuse for not trying some honest-to-goodness English-style ale this time.

Hot Monkey Love is a strong ale, big and malty with a 9.8% ABV, and each seven-barrel batch is brewed with 120 pounds of honey. According to Steve Jones, head hot monkey at Oliver, this particular keg was brewed in January and conditioned until April.

It’s just about beer o’clock, so take note as you head out to grab a cold one (or two or three) to celebrate a hard day’s work. ChurchKey will be tapping the keg tonight, but Hot Monkey Love is sure to be on the menu throughout the weekend and next week.
