While waiting for the protesters to show up on Monday, I wandered the downtown streets and tripped upon this relatively new fro-yo outlet on F Street NWFroZenYo‘s main selling point is that you can serve your own, which not only means (presumably) that you can go hog-ass-wild on the toppings but also that you will get a price cut since you don’t have to cover labor costs.

It seems like a good idea to me, sort of like a fro-yo shop combined with a salad bar. At both, you pay by weight.

Out of curiosity, I performed a quick Google search and discovered that self-serve is apparently the latest trend among fro-yo shops. Since I’m not a yogurt regular, here’s what I want to know: Do you pay less for self-serve or do shops make you pay more, under the assumption that they will have higher food costs because they can’t control your portions?
