Natasha Barrett, local News Channel 8’s answer to Kathy Lee Gifford, took a bite into the whole Strasburger phenomenon last week, sampling the beefy tribute to Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg‘s rapidly expanding ego at Tortilla Coast on Capitol Hill. “It’s just everything to make your hips grow!” Barrett said of the two honey-glazed patties topped with fried onions, sold for a whopping $11.37. (That’s 37 in reference to the fastball phenom’s jersey number; no specific indication where the 11 comes from.) “I gave half of it to my intern,” Barrett said, laughing. “She was hungry.”

Not to be outdone, it seems, the folks at BGR: The Burger Joint countered the very next day with a big brown bag containing BGR’s own version of the Strasburger, piled with pickles (one for each strikeout) and a hot dog, promptly delivered to the TV studio in Arlington, just in time for Barrett’s show. “Random,” Barrett said, “but great!” She added, “Anybody got a thousand dollars? We’re at 1100 Wilson Boulevard…”
