It has been a month since SAVOR and the week-long craft beer celebration it brings with it took over D.C. bars and restaurants, and it has taken The Lagerheads about that long to recuperate. This weekend the annual Brewers Association beer and food pairing event was featured in a CBS News report on the growing popularity of American craft beer.
The segment sets SAVOR at the center of a discussion about why craft beer sales continue to rise while overall U.S. and imported beer sales are dropping. Possible causes mentioned include the influence of the local and organic food movements, the elevated status of beer in the foodie and winie world, and the idea that beer is an affordable luxury during a bad economy.
What do you think is at the heart of craft beer’s growing popularity? Check out the video and let us know. (And if you were at SAVOR you just may see yourself.)
