It’s Monday, which means it’s time for our weekly post of opportunities for organized beer fun. Below is a quick list, but click on an event in the calendar above for details. (Those of you who scroll ahead and get a peak at what’s in store for D.C. Beer Week later this month.)
This week sees two special events at ChurchKey, Founders super rarities, Canadian Breakfast Stout and Black Biscuit on draft Monday and beer historian Ron Pattinson and his De Molen collaboration beer SSS Tripel Stout on Thursday.
On Monday, Black Squirrel kicks off an entire month celebrating Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing Company, and more specifically, Fat Tire Amber Ale. For the hard core NBB fans, they will also have 1554 Enlightened Black Ale, Mothership Wit, Ranger IPA & Lips of Faith series bottles of La Fleur Misseur.
On Thursday, it’s Oktoberfest at RFD. Great Lakes Oktoberfest will be featured as the craft beer of the day, which means it will be $3.50 a pint from 4 to 7pm. Brewery staff from Cleveland will be on hand for this D.C. launch party.
Free tastings this week include Heavy Seas at Connecticut Avenue Wine & Liquor Deli in Dupont Circle on Wednesday and Laughing Dog at Fenwick Beer and Wine in Silver Spring on Friday.
If you are up for a road trip, head to Baltimore to check out Max’s Rare & Obscure festival, where over 70 hard-to-find beers will be avaiable over the course of four drunken days, Thursday through Sunday.
