There is plenty of festive beer fun to be had in the District this week. A little bit about the week below, but for more details on any event, click on it in our D.C. Beer Events Calendar above.

It’s Hanukkah, so why not head to ChurchKey or Fireworks Pizza for He’brew Jewbilation and other Schmalz beers tonight or show up later this week hoping for leftovers. Or perhaps your beer pursuits will take you out to the Dogfish Head Alehouses in Fairfax, Falls Church, or Gaithersburg for their holiday dinners on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, respectively.

On Tuesday, 21st Amendment fans can find three of the San Francisco brews, Hop Crisis Ale, Back in Black IPA, and Fireside Chat Winter Spiced Ale on special for $5 at Ella’s Wood Fired Pizza. On Thursday, the Brickskeller will host their annual winter beer tasting, which showcases winter and holiday beers made by regional breweries.

Friday you can taste Flying Dog Raging Bitch three ways at De’Vino’s in Adams Morgan: on cask, draft, and from the bottle. That may be as much of the dog as you’ll get if you don’t already have tickets for the Frederick brewery’s “Merry Firkin Christmas” freak show party featuring jugglers, magicians, fire dancers, sword swallowers, fire breathers, a DJ and 15 Flying Dog beers.

The big news this week is all about growlers. These take-home beer jugs will be available at the Old Town Alexandria Whole Foods Market starting Friday, when the store is hosting a happy hour to get things started right, with $5 mugs of four Virginia-brewed beers: Legend Brown Ale, Tuppers Hop Pocket Ale, Starr Hill Amber, and St. George Pilsner.
