While it’s not really news that the Red Hook Lobster Pound‘s D.C. truck will be stationed for lunch near 19th and L streets NW—good luck finding parking!—it might be worth noting that the Brooklyn-based lobster folks are confused about what neighborhood they’ll be serving. (And they’ll have “[s]hrimp, warm lobster, clam chowder & hot cider!“)
Lobster today near 19th & L St NW around 11:30! Come up with a cool name for this hood—SoDu (South Dupont) Mid-West End?—and we’ll use it!
It would seem that the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District might have something to say about the branding of where the intersection of 19th and L streets is located, no?
As Tim Carman wrote in September for Young & Hungry, the Golden Triangle BID is one of the “well-financed entities… [that] submitted proposals asking the D.C. Council to put new restrictions on trucks. Some of the proposals are downright draconian.”
Earlier this week, there were stirrings that new food truck regulations were going to come up before the D.C. Council, but legislative action on that front never materialized.
As for responses to the lobster truck’s neighborhood naming adventure, there’s this one: “Farraghetto.”
Let’s just hope the good lobster folks don’t wade into the debate over the D.C. Arts District!
