This week has some great beer events to help ring in the holidays. Sadly, The Lagerheads are in Colorado so unable to participate, but we are still bringing you the scoop. For details on any event click on it in our D.C. Beer Events Calendar above.
Starting Monday, all three Pizzeria Paradiso‘s are turning their tap lines over to holiday, winter and celebration beers. The Georgetown, Dupont, and Old Town Alexandria locations each have unique lineups for their Year End Jubilation. Stand-outs include Scaldis Noel 2008 and all four Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary brews at Georgetown, The Bruery 3 French Hens and probably one of the last kegs of Great Lakes Christmas Ale in the city at Dupont, and Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2008, 2009, and 2010 and a duck and Manchego pizza with World Wide Stout sauce across all three locations.
On Tuesday, Meridian Pint will be pouring a host of rare stouts from Bell’s Brewery in Michigan. Among the 11 (ELEVEN!) rich, dark beers that will be featured are Harry McGill’s Spiced Stout, a 7.8%-ABV beer made with spices from around the world, and Special Double Cream Stout, a rich brew made from 10 different malts. Special food pairings for the evening include Kalamazoo Stout with roasted eggplant, braised fennel, and goat cheese with honey, kalamata olives, and candied orange zest, and several other just as delicious sounding dishes.
On Wednesday, head to Bourbon in Adams Morgan for four featured beers from Stone Brewing Company and a “Get Stoned” atmosphere complete with metal music blasting all night. Featured brews are Lucky Bastard and Smoked Porter on draft and Ruination and Oaked Arrogant Bastard in bottles.
On Thursday Mad Fox Brewpub in Falls Churchis throwing a Festivus party with all the Castanza essentials: meatloaf, airing of grievances (family not included), feats of strength, and the annual appearance of the Festivus Pole. With such great beer on tap and cask at Mad Fox, you’d be sure to have a good time without all the festivities.
