If I hadn’t devoured an Open City burger on Monday night—the Woodley Park restaurant has a great deal involving a burger and beer for just $10—I would have swung by BGR to try its special truffled patty melt and eggnog shake, pictured here.
Here’s the description: “a prime dry aged burger topped with black truffles, melted Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and Thousand Island dressing.”
My question: Does the tangy Thousand Island dressing undermine the flavor of the black truffles? But maybe the pairing works—have you tried it?
Anyhow, this December combo seems to be awfully sinful—the shake is made with farm-fresh eggnog and vanilla ice cream sprinkled with nutmeg—but probably worth the indulgence.
