Eating my way through your advice, an ambitious list of vegetarian sandwiches from 24 different restaurants. More Comments Come True.
I started this quest for fabulous veggie sandwiches because of the over-stuffed madness. I could not take one more über-filled vegetable sandwich. Just because a sandwich doesn’t have meat doesn’t mean it needs to over compensate with too many fillings. No meat is just fine.
Taylor Gourmet understands this fact with its Spring Garden hoagie. Take two ingredients, saturate in red pepper flakes, and be done with it. This hoagie lives a simple life, inviting only flecks of sharp provolone cheese and sauteed broccoli rabe with red pepper flakes and garlic. With ample heat, the hoagie’s scant ingredient list doesn’t seem like it’s missing anything. In fact, it’s one of the most flavorful veggie sandwiches I’ve tried.
Of course, the side of Herr’s chips helps. I’m from the Jersey side of Philly and I appreciate Taylor Gourmet’s nod to our local chips (even if the local sandwich shop collection is not loyal to quite everything from the region.)
