A grand new era in Rosslyn diningwill kick off next month, when Arlington County’s Artisphere opens its freshly named restaurant, HERE, the product of a public naming contest. (Artesano and También were finalists, but didn’t make the cut.) So with HERE, think of it as the last four letters of the arts complex, or, perhaps, an homage to the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, now part of the larger coalition UNITE HERE.

HERE’S free public launch party is scheduled for April 1 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (There’s a daytime party scheduled for March 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Rosslyn has been long derided for its lackluster restaurant options, many which cater to daytime office dwellers. But a popular, successful restaurant at the Artisphere could improve matters a bit, especially for the evening cultural crowd the complex hopes to draw.

From a media release: “The restaurant will also offer delicious alternatives to the usual intermission concession items, including homemade guacamole, fire-roasted salsa and chips, and inventive recreations of American and Latin comfort food. Patrons will now be able to grab a bite or enjoy a drink before, after or during their adventure in Artisphere’s 62,000 square foot cultural campus. Artisphere’s focus on being a less formal arts space includes welcoming patrons to take a drink from the bar and wander through its galleries and performance venues.”

HERE will be operated by the Barroso restaurant group, run by Arlingtonians Karen Barroso and Rolando Juárez, who brought us Arlington’s Guajillo and Adams Morgan’s Casa Oaxaca.
