Last week, Tim Carman profiled WAMU-FM’s Kojo Nnamdi, one of the D.C. area’s best voices on food who might be best described as a “reluctant foodie.” In a follow-up item, Carman notes some of Nnamdi’s favorite places to eat around town. He sticks largely to what he knows.

  • Nnamdi loves the Hitching Post off Rock Creek Church Road in Petworth. He’s been a regular for 20 years: “It’s like an unfolding soap opera for the regulars…But I don’t go to any places as regularly as I used to anymore, because [of] my schedule.”
  • He likes Acadiana for the location: “There’s something about that location I like, because I’ve been in Washington a long time, and I remember when the location was completely different.”
  • The Guyana native seems to have a habit of frequenting places that end up closing. Nnamdi used to meet WTOP’s Mark Plotkin at Kemble Tavern on MacArthur Boulevard until it closed recently. He and Plotkin were regulars at Il Mulino on Vermont Avenue near McPherson Square. “See, we stopped going when the maitre d’ left, so I guess that would have been a preview to their closing.”
