Tolga Erbatur‘s subterranean fish ‘n’ chips spot The Codmother hosts its “soft opening” party tonight, beginning at 6 p.m. Thrillist drops some knowledge on the venue’s fishy baptismal pun of a trade name: “The name stems from their attempt to use only using female cod (more muscle = better meat) in beer-battered fish ‘n chips.” According to a menu, desserts include a deep-fried Snickers bar and the regretfully named “spotted dick,” that is, boiled suet pudding with dried fruit (pictured above).
