Z-Burger‘s third annual burger-eating contest on Friday featured more drama than usual. WTOP reported over the holiday weekend that this year’s top two finalists “nearly came to blows” after defending champ Pete Czerwinski accused challenger Dale Boone of cheating by “leaving parts of a burger in the water cup he had been soaking the sandwiches in.” The station explains that competitive eaters sometimes soak their food in water in order to make it easier to swallow. In the end, Czerwinski prevailed again (see video above). More controversy: another guy claimed victory after consuming 17 burgers. But he was disqualified because “he couldn’t hold down his burgers during the competition.” Blech!
