One thing missing from the dead-tree version of this week’s Young & Hungry column on the increasing prevalence of alligator meat on menus around town is a close-up portrait of the exotic reptile ribs on special at Thunder Burger in Georgetown last week. (Now pictured above.)
Truth be told, City Paper‘s illustrious photographer Darrow Montgomery simply can’t accompany Y&H to every restaurant in town. So I’m left to take a few (far more amateurish) snapshots on my own. Herewith, some additional visual evidence of all the gator meat I gobbled up last week in researching the story.
The absinthe-laced gator, crawfish and turtle stew at the Cajun Experience. Chef Thomas Schoborg also tossed in a few shrimp for good measure.
Some more traditional fried gator bites at the Grill from Ipanema. My least favorite take on reptile in town.
