Y&H tries hard not to shill for every silly promotion that lands in our inbox. But most don’t mix consumerism and ethics so intriguingly. The folks at Honest Tea have set up an unmanned pop-up shop in front of PNC Bank in Dupont Circle today where passersby can buy a bottle of the stuff for just a buck. If that. This is the honor system, after all. It’s up to the individual to decide whether to pay or just grab a drink and dash. Hidden cameras will document the action.

HONEST CITY IS COMING TO A LOCATION NEAR YOU… ON TUESDAY, WITH A TWIST

WHAT: Honest Tea is conducting a social experiment with unmanned pop-up stores in various locations throughout the nation, including Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 19.

Honest City D.C. will feature bottles for purchase on the honor system. Each bottle will cost one dollar. It will be up to each individual to decide if they will pay for their drinks. We’ll have hidden cameras set up to see how honest DCers are.

Media are invited to experience the Honest Store first hand. Video footage, photos and final results will be available. Additional cities involved in this experiment are New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Cincinnati, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
