Agents with the District’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) have started their own investigation into the situation at Anacostia’s popular Uniontown Bar & Grill, whose proprietor, Natasha Dasher, is currently facing drug charges.
Dasher is listed as the 100-percent owner of the business on documents filed with the liquor agency. Her arrest puts the future of the pioneering Ward 8 watering hole in jeopardy. A conviction could trigger proceedings to revoke the business’ liquor license under D.C. law.
“If she’s found guilty of a felony, then she can’t hold a license in D.C.,” says ABRA spokesperson Cynthia Simms. “But, if it’s a misdemeanor, then it goes before the [Alcoholic Beverage Control] Board and it would be at their discretion.”
ABRA investigators will be submitting a report to the ABC Board as the federal case against Dasher moves forward.
