Authorities shuttered Heritage India on Sunday morning after some wee-hour revelry gone wrong at the Dupont Circle restaurant. A fight inside reportedly spilled out into the street where gunshots were fired. One man was killed and another two were injured from bullet wounds. Three others were stabbed. The deadly incident occurred long after regular dinner hours—-around 2:45 a.m., according to the Washington Post. Why were folks still hanging around so long after supper time? The restaurant apparently moonlights as a late-night lounge. The Post quotes one victim saying that a DJ was spinning hip-hop and that patrons were frisked on the way inside. You can bet the ABC Board will be hearing about this.
EDITOR’S NOTE: An earlier version of this post misidentified the number of shooting victims. The item has been corrected.
