Earlier this month, the city’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board deemed Shaw’s Tavern owner Abbas Fathi “unfit for licensure,” citing the restaurant’s history of regulatory violations before even obtaining the proper permits. Now, Fathi is asking the panel to rethink things. On the agenda of Wednesday’s regular meeting, the board is scheduled to review a “motion to reconsider” from Fathi, dated Nov. 10. That sort of motion is often a prelude to an appeal. So it seems Fathi isn’t giving up his perch on Florida Avenue NW without a fight.
