The first D.C. location of international chain The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is celebrating its grand opening on Tuesday morning with a three-hour open house, featuring free coffee and breakfast treat samples. The festivities and freebies run from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. tomorrow. The 16-seat, 1,692 square feet coffee shop, located inside the Washington Hilton at 1919 Connecticut Ave. NW, features the prerequisite communal tables, electric outlets and, yes, free wifi for the java-loving laptop set, with additional seating available in the hotel lobby and outdoor courtyard (weather permitting, of course). In case you were wondering, the District’s newest caffeine hub is not another outpost in the local Counter Culture coffee empire. In fact, a rep tells Y&H the California-based retailer roasts its own beans out in Camarillo.
