Today: the Fat Tuesday festivities begin early with a crawfish boil at Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, starting at noon. Acadiana then kicks off its Mardi Gras celebration at 3:30 p.m. with a four-course prix fixe dinner. Arlington’s Bayou Bakery is next on the parade route, with its own four-course dinner, starting at 6 p.m.

Coming up: more Mardi Gras eats on Tuesday, with specials at Jackson 20 and Central, among other places. Also, on Tuesday morning, Founding Farmers‘ downtown location will begin opening for breakfast an hour earlier on weekdays, at 7 a.m. sharp, with an expanded breakfast menu featuring new items including carrot cake and red velvet pancakes. Later that night, the 14th Annual St. Jude’s Gala takes place at the National Building Museum, featuring fare by more than 40 top chefs from around the region.
