Temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s on this early spring day—-ideal conditions for an ice cream sandwich. Especially a gourmet maple-bacon ice cream sandwich made with waffle cookies. Sugar Magnolia, the brand spankin’ new treats shop in Cleveland Park, brought to you by the proprietors of the similarly Grateful Dead song-titled Ripple, is opening today, with pasty chef Alison Reed offering a variety of adult takes on the childhood favorite. The aforementioned bacon-y variety is one. Other flavors include a chocolate cookie with coffee coconut ice cream and a peanut butter cookie with Valrhona chocolate ice cream. Prices range from $3 to $5. The shop, located at 3417 Connecticut Ave NW, is open until 8 p.m.
