Admit it: you’ve always wanted to learn how to pop-open a bottle of bubbly by using a sword. Tonight, Kimpton Hotels’ master sommelier, the aptly named Emily Wines, will show you how during a saber-wielding interactive sparkling wine cocktail demo at The Grille at Morrison House in Alexandria. Snack on caviar and blini canapés while sipping champagne and other sparklers. Tickets are $25. The event also doubles an accessory drive to benefit the charity Dress for Success. Representatives will be collecting donated handbags, professional totes, closed-toe shoes, career-appropriate jewelry, new hosiery, and the like.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Organizers tell Y&H that tonight’s planned Artini feature night at Againn has been canceled. The series of cocktail-themed soirees resumes Thursday at P.O.V. at the W Hotel.

Coming up: on Friday, Fruit Bat hosts a new food truck pop-up inside the restaurant, featuring fare by Grids Waffles, beginning at 7 p.m. and staying open late. On Saturday, it’s Artini time at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. If you don’t already have tickets, you’re pretty much out of luck. The event is sold out. See about getting on the waiting list here.
