Popular food truck Basil Thyme (City Paper readers’ pick for second-best food truck in the city) got towed from its vending location near Metro Center earlier today. DCist reports that operator Brian Farrell owed about $1,000 in outstanding parking tickets. Tuesday’s parking enforcement action comes at a time when the city is revising its regulations on food trucks, including existing parking rules that leave operators prone to racking up tickets.

According to the trucker’s Twitter feed, Basil Thyme has since been rescued from an impound lot in Anacostia and will resume slinging its lasagnas and other staples on Wednesday:

“Despite some theatrics, BT crew has our truck and is ready to rock Farragut tomorrow! Thank you Metro Center! Glad 2 be back!”
