Back in November, Clyde’s President Tom Meyer was feeling pretty optimistic about his planned 24-hour operation, The Hamilton, downtown’s ginormous new restaurant and live-music venue. “I have a feeling I’m going to be pleasantly surprised at the 24-hour thing,” Meyer told Y&H at the time. “If I do it for a year and it doesn’t work, I just stop doing it.”

A year? Try three months. Guest of a Guest is reporting that the venue is already doing away with its round-the-clock schedule and instead closing at the more typical time of 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The bar area will stay open until 2 a.m. weeknights and 3 a.m. weekends.

Meanwhile, the beefy blog Burger Days points us to this Twitter report by the Post‘s Going Out Gurus that another newly advertised late-night joint, Black & Orange on 14th Street NW, has posted a sign indicating that it, too, is rolling back its wee-hour food service. The home of the “Hair of the Dog” burger and City Paper readers’ pick for “Best Burger” in 2012 is now closing at 11 p.m. on most weekdays—-long before its prior 5 a.m. bedtime. The burger joint will still be open later on Thursdays (’til 3 a.m.) and weekends (5 a.m.).
