Another food truck is turning to Kickstarter to raise money for its brick-and-mortar establishment. This time, it’s international sandwich food truck El Floridano, which hopes to raise $30,000 for its restaurant and bakery Mothership, coming to 3301 Georgia Ave. NW.
Chef/owner Stephan Boillon plans to serve baked goods and pastries, pizzas, small plates, and seasonal tasting menus in the former take-out space. He explains what’s needed to complete the project in the video above. At the lowest pledge level of $10 or more, donors will get their names on the “Mothership Motherboard” on the wall of the restaurant and on its website. High-rolling pledgers that give $5,000 or more will have the option to close the shop any night they want for a private party with 10-course tasting menu for 30 people. As of this post, Mothership had raised $1,306 from 16 people with 29 days to go.
Pleasant Pops food truck raised $26,366 from 423 people in 30 days through Kickstarter for Pleasant Pops Farmhouse Market & Cafe opening at 18th Street and Florida Avenue NW in August.
