Amorini Panini will open a second location at 801 18th St. NW late this year or in early 2013. The spot, previously occupied by a Quiznos, will be similar to its Penn Quarter mothership, but with the added bonus of outdoor seating.

Owner Matt Gray tells Y&H that he’s also in the process of franchising the concept. The franchise will remain regional, he says, potentially extending from the southern tip of Pennsylvania to Richmond, Va.

Meanwhile, the panini shop’s food truck, which launched in January, will continue to operate. A second truck will hit the streets of Arlington or Fairfax County next spring. Future franchise owners will also have the option to start their own Amorini Panini food trucks if their stores meet certain criteria, Gray says.
