The Washington area beer community’s love fest with President Barack Obama continues tonight. Port City Brewing Company founder Bill Butcher will speak at the Democratic National Convention sometime between 9 and 9:30 p.m., reports DC Beer.
The Alexandria-based brewer, who describes himself as “not a particularly politically involved person,” will speak about his experiences as a small business owner. In February, he starred in a White House video talking about his struggles to finance the brewery and how the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act helped him to get a loan.
In a Q&A, DC Beer asks Butcher if he can chat up the president about his recently released White House Honey Ale. “Sure,” he says. “I also will welcome him to the local D.C. brewing community, and let him know that he’s in good company.”
Butcher told Y&H yesterday that he will not attempt to reproduce the White House beers at his brewery. But maybe Obama will give him a bottle?
