With rooftop bars popping up all over in the city, there might be none as underused as 1905’s. The 9th Street NW restaurant opened its rooftop this spring, and if you haven’t checked it out, there are few weeks left to enjoy the neighborhood skyline—at least with reasonable weather. (Although something tells me owner Tony Lucca isn’t going to let the elements deter him from keeping it open; we all own jackets, right?)
I suggest heading to 1905 for taco Tuesdays. The well-portioned $3 tacos come with a choice of beef, lamb, pork, or fish (although offerings vary week to week). The tacos are topped with a healthy dollop of sour cream, sliced radish, lettuce, and tomatoes and wrapped in a corn tortilla. They’re pretty good for a non-Mexican restaurant.
It might not be hump-day, but don’t let that stop you from ordering a beer (or three). With $3 cans of Pilsner Ace, heading into work the following morning with a Tylenol is a small price to pay. 1905 carries a dozen or so beers including some from D.C.’s newest brewery, 3 Stars Brewing Company. Pair it with some tacos, and you might have just found yourself a new Tuesday spot.
