At long last, Green Hat Gin is here.
New Columbia Distillers, D.C.’s first legal distillery in more than a century, began selling its signature liquor today. Stop by the distillery before 6 p.m. to buy from the first batch.
Even if you can’t make it today, the distillery will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to about 6 p.m. If you head over on the later end, give them a call first at (202) 733-1710.
A bottle of the Green Hat Gin goes for $36 (before tax). The distillery doesn’t have its credit card reader up and running yet, so remember to bring cash.
The gin will also be available at Schneider’s on Capitol Hill this week. (They’re delivering it there today.) Other retailers and bars have also expressed interest, so stay tuned for a list of places where you’ll be able to find the gin. New Columbia also put in its tasting permit application yesterday, and co-founder Michael Lowe estimates that they’ll be able to host tastings in about two weeks.
