London-based noodle shop Wagamama has been leading Washingtonians on for more than four years. And now, it’s finally breaking up with us.

Wagamama director of marketing Ingrid Williamson confirms to Y&H today that the restaurant will not be opening a restaurant in D.C. as originally planned. (Hat tip to DC Internationalist for tipping us off.) Word that Wagamama was coming to 418 7th St. NW in Penn Quarter started spreading as far back as 2008, and signs on the windows continually promised opening dates that never came.

Williamson did not offer much in the way of explanation, saying only that the company’s priority is to expand from Boston, where it already has locations.
