The Penn Quarter space that once housed Michel Richard‘s Meatballs (or was it?) has a new tenant: Taylor Gourmet.

Co-owner Casey Patten says the local hoagie chain just began demolition at 624 E St. NW and doesn’t yet have a timeline for opening. It will be Taylor’s fifth D.C. location (with others in Merrifield, Va., and Bethesda).

The space has been vacant since June, when Meatballs closed its doors following negative reviews and a lot of controversy over its ownership.
