Gin gelato? Yes, please. Beginning Nov. 5, local gelateria Dolcezza will introduce a cucumber tarragon gin sorbetto using recently unveiledGreen Hat Gin from D.C’s only distillery, New Columbia Distillers. Dolcezza is also collaborating with DC Brau on a Penn Quarter Porter gelato and with Gordy’s Pickle’s on a Thai basil jalapeño sorbetto.

The flavors will be priced at $5 for a small, $6.15 for a large, and $10.50 for a pint. All three Dolcezza locations (Georgetown, Dupont, Bethesda) will carry them.

Check out more detailed descriptions of the flavors via a press release:

The Cucumber Tarragon Gin sorbetto features Green Hat Gin from the New Columbia Distillers, DC’s first craft distillery.  Green Hat Gin is distilled in small batches from 100% grain and select botanicals.  Handmade from beginning to end, the gin is crafted step-by-step over a two-week period, with a clear juniper nose, hints of light citrus and coriander spice, a vague recollection of earthiness and subtle notes of grains, pepper and celery, producing a rewarding complexity.  Robb mixes the gin with Persian cucumbers sourced from Twin Springs Fruit Farm in Orrtanna, PA.  He then adds tarragon, lime, salt, water and sugar, resulting in the finest frozen cocktail.  For more information on New Columbia Distillers and Green Hat Gin, please visit http://greenhatgin.com/.

Penn Quarter Porter Gelato is made from DC Brau’s Penn Quarter Porter, a very robust beer with notes of chocolate, coffee, and a nutty flavor.  Penn Quarter Porter straddles the line between a porter and a stout due to its chocolate flavor and dry, roasted finish.  Robb first slowly heats up the porter to reduce and concentrate the flavor.  He then adds the beer to the milk, cream and sugar base to spin into an exquisite and complex nutty, bitter porter gelato.  For additional information on DC Brau, please visit http://www.dcbrau.com/.

The Thai Basil Jalapeño sorbetto incorporates the Thai Basil Jalapeño Pickles from Gordy’s Pickle Jar.  Gordy’s Pickles are handcrafted, thoughtfully designed recipes using fresh, local produce and responsibly cultivated spices.  This sorbetto is a tantalizing combination of sweet and spicy, using a basil-infused brine to compliment the heat of the jalapeño peppers.  Don’t miss out—it packs a lot of heat!  For more information on Gordy’s Pickle Jar, please visit http://www.gordyspicklejar.com/.
