It’s time, Tom and Padma fans. Top Chef Seattle premieres tonight at 10 p.m.
Among this season’s cast: Seasonal Pantry‘s Dan O’Brien, Belga Cafe‘s Bart Vandaele, and Jeffrey Jew, who’s identified in the show as chef de cuisine at Blackbyrd, although hisTop Chef bio says he’s now a personal chef in St. Petersburg, Fla.
There are a few preview clips, which you can watch here. From the looks of it, the cast is broken down into groups of five and sent to work in the restaurants of Emeril Lagasse and Tom Colicchio, where they compete for a spot on the show. Jew is the only local toque shown in the clips: “I need to get to Seattle to compete in Top Chef,” Jew tells the camera. “Not only for myself, but for my partner Jim. He’s supported me in anything that I’ve done. I hope to bring him that success.”
We also learn Jew is half Chinese and half Norwegian-German, with lots of international cooking experience: “I’ve traveled to very different places around the world. I’ve been to Russia. I’ve done Ethiopian dinners. I have a lot of experience working with different products, and I think that will help me to win the Top Chef coat.”
