At long last, Taylor Charles Steak & Ice, the cheesesteak shop from the Taylor Gourmet guys, has an opening date: Dec. 12.
The menu allows you to customize your cheesesteak with a choice of beef rib-eye, chicken breast, or portabella mushroom caps “wit” or “wit-out” grilled onions plus provolone, American, Cheez Whiz, or house-made white whiz. There are also six specialty cheesesteaks, including one with broccoli rabe and rib-eye and another with chicken breasts, hot sauce, and blue cheese dressing.
You’ll also find a variety of fries, truffled cheesesteak spring rolls, hot dogs, salads, and other non-cheesesteak fare. Finish it off with an Italian water ice, custard, gelato, or ice cream sandwich. Check out the full menu below.
As for the space at 1320 H St. NE, it’s designed to give you the feeling of “bringing the streets inside,” according to the press release, since Philadelphia’s most famous cheesesteak spots are outside walk-up establishments. That means the floors at Taylor Charles Steak & Ice resemble asphalt, complete with manhole covers. There are also street lights, picnic tables, and street art throughout the space.
Taylor Charles Steak & Ice will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 3:30 a.m. Delivery is coming soon.
