Anacostia’s Uniontown Bar & Grill closed last summer following owner Nathasha Dasher‘s conviction on cocaine trafficking charges.

Now, our colleague Aaron Wiener reports that the restaurant will reopen as an American food spot serving breakfast through dinner at midrange prices. It will likely be called Cherry Hill Bar & Grill. New owner Melake Gebre, working with investor Gabriele Tripodo, says he hopes to have the restaurant open as early as this summer.

Gebre, who previously ran a cafe in Arlington and restaurants in Ethiopia, says he approached Dasher about buying Uniontown or potential partnerships before her legal troubles began. He stepped in again when the restaurant shut down in August.

The new restaurant will also feature some R&B and jazz—”music that would attract 40- and 50-year old people,” Gebre says. Read more about it here.
