There may be a chance of snow tonight, but the first sign of spring is already here: the opening of farmers markets.
FRESHFARM’s Penn Quarter market will make its debut tomorrow from 3 to 7 p.m. In addition to your favorite local farms, look out for Dolcezza gelato, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, and more. The market tweets that Jaleo chef Paul Yeck will be there dishing out beet gazpacho.
You’ll have to wait until April 21 for H Street NE and Foggy Bottom markets and May 3 for the one by the White House. (Check out FRESHFARM’s Virginia and Maryland schedules here.) Meanwhile, the 14th and U streets NW market will open May 4, and the Mount Pleasant market is set for April 6. Dupont Circle remains open year-round on Sundays.
CORRECTION: Turns out Red Apron Butcher won’t be at the Penn Quarter market this season, but the good news is that it’s opening up a shop nearby at 709 D St. NW.
