The hallmark of most deli sandwiches is that they’re so thick they barely fit in your mouth. So in response to customer feedback, Dupont Circle’s DGS Delicatessen is adding extra meat to its pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. Instead of six ounces, the sandwiches will now be stuffed with eight ounces (half a pound) of seven-day-brined, smoked, and hand-sliced meat. The best news? The price tag ($13) will remain the same.
“They wanted bigger,” says owner Nick Wiseman. “A delicatessen is a place to be generous, so there you go.”
And now that the sandwich is a size more worthy of drunk food, DGS is launching a new late night promotion tonight: $15 for a pastrami or corned beef sandwich with any draft beer. The special, available nightly after 9 p.m., is called the “Working Mensch Special.”
