In case you needed one more excuse to hit up Chinatown’s Daikaya, here ya go: the upstairs izakaya is launching a happy hour weekdays from 5 to 7 p.m.
Chef Katsuya Fukushima and his team will serve up a rotating selection of $3 small plates. The initial offerings include deep-fried (non-poisonous) blowfish and chicken karaage; grilled cherry tomatoes with miso-cheddar fondue; edamame with garlic and chili; and fried shishito peppers with jalapeño marmalade.
For happy hour drinks, Daikaya will offer $4 drafts of Sapporo, DC Brau’s The Citizen, and Anchor Steam’s Summer Ale as well as a selection of $6 wines. An eight-ounce carafe of Gekkeikan’s House sake or Daikaya Punch made with shochu, grapefruit juice, and soda will go for $6 each.
