More fresh produce, pastries, and botanical sodas are on their way to Union Market. From July 21 through October 27, the food emporium will host an outdoor farmers’ market every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The market will be operated by FRESHFARM Markets, which already runs 10 farmers’ markets in the area, including Penn Quarter, Dupont Circle, and Foggy Bottom. Ten vendors will be part of the market, including Endless Summer Harvest, Kuhn’s Orchard, Soupergirl, and draft-only botanical soda producer WildCraft Soda. (Check out the full list of vendors below.) FRESHFARM Market at Union Market will also administer its Matching Dollars program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) on site.
The farmers’ stands will be located on the strip of grass between the entrance to the market and the parking lot. And yes, refurbished Airstream trailer Suburbia will still be there slinging piña coladas and beer, which means this will be the first farmers’ market where you can drink and shop.
UPDATE: The Red Hen chef Mike Friedman will do an opening day chef’s demo on July 21.
