Longtime Capitol Hill restaurateur Xavier Cervera sold his nine restaurants, which included Hawk ‘n’ Dove, The Chesapeake Room, and Molly Malone’s, earlier this year. Now, he’s establishing roots in Shaw with a new American bistro.

A liquor license application for 1209-1213 10th St. NW lists the trade name for the restaurant as The American, although it’s unclear if that will actually be the name of the restaurant. Despite the address listed, the restaurant will actually be located in Blagden Alley, between 9th and 10th streets. The notice also states that the restaurant will have 70 seats plus a summer garden with 75 seats.

Cervera has not yet returned Y&H’s call for comment. Stay tuned for more details.
