Last week, real estate site Curbed took note of a home for sale in Chevy Chase with a kitchen designed by none other than celebrity chef José Andrés.

As Curbed noted: “We know that Andrés’ organization World Central Kitchen builds kitchens in developing nations, but this is the first we’ve noticed a gourmet kitchen in a private home with his name attached as the designer.”

Given that Andrés recently launched a new line of Spanish food products, Y&H couldn’t help but wonder if the restaurateur behind Minibar and Jaleo is also breaking into the kitchen design biz?

Not quite. It turns out that Andrés helped design this one 10 years ago with his good friend Richard Wolffe, an author and journalist who owns the house and collaborated with Andrés on a couple cookbooks. Think Food Group rep Maru Valdes says Andrés was key to several of the design features, including the big social cooking space so the meal prep is central to the action and the plancha grill and sink on the central kitchen island. She says Andrés wrote and cooked a big chunk of his book, Tapas: A Taste of Spain in America, there with Wolffe.

If you want to cook in the only kitchen Andrés has designed, the five bedroom home is listed for $1,195,000.
