D.C.’s newest production brewery, Atlas Brew Works, at last has a launch day. Or rather, a launch week: Sept. 2-8.

Instead of one big blowout for its debut, Atlas Brew Works will host an event in a different neighborhood across D.C. each night. The exact schedule is still being finalized, but expect stops in Petworth, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Logan Circle.

Founders and college buddies Justin Cox and Will Durgin started brewing at their Ivy City facility (2025 West Virginia Ave. NE) for the first time on Saturday. “We’ve got about 60 barrels of beer fermenting right now, and we’re actually brewing as speak,” Cox says.

Atlas will launch with three draft-only beers. Its two flagship brews: Rowdy, a “hop-forward American-style rye ale, accented by the peppery notes of rye,” and District Common, “a California Common featuring Czech Saaz hops.” A third limited-run beer called NSFW is a surprise.

Atlas Brew Works plans to eventually have tours, tastings, and growler fills at the brewery, but Cox says that’s still a couple months away.
