After months of delays, Silver Spring-based Burmese restaurant Mandalay will make its debut in Shaw on Sept. 8. Throughout that Sunday, there will be five seatings for 100 to 150 diners each in which chef Aung Myint will cook a buffet feast of old favorites and new dishes with plenty of vegetarian options for $25 a head (cash only). Guests can sign up for the seatings on Mandalay’s website, at the Silver Spring location, or by emailing mandalaydcgrandopening@gmail.com.
Myint says that he’ll officially open the restaurant for normal business a few days later or the following week. (Stay tuned.) Mandalay will be open Tuesdays through Sundays with two seatings per night—5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The prix-fixe menu will include seven or eight family-style dishes for $40 on weekdays and $50 on weekends.
