We can't make City Paper without you
Patio season may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t need to stop you from checking out Park View’s newest bar, Park View Patio.
The bar, which replaces Blue Banana at 3632 Georgia Ave. NW, features a huge outdoor space spanning two townhouse backyards with two moveable bars plus nine picnic tables. Co-owner Scott Nguyen says they’re planning to bring in a clear-top tent to cover most of the patio. There will also be heaters beginning this week.
Of course, you can drink indoors, too. Park View Patio has about 80 seats and half a dozen TVs. “It’s like a sports bar without all the garish sports signs, neon signs, team logos,” Nguyen says.
Park View Patio doesn’t have a kitchen yet, but it’s working to build one out by January or February. In the meantime, the bar is teaming up with a rotating cast of Union Kitchen-based food vendors—Altis Barbecue, Milk Cult, Ravioli Revolution—to provide some grub. Green Eggs and Burgers also has a cart on the patio.
For now, Park View Patio is open only Thursday through Sunday. From 6 to 9 p.m., the bar will offer buy-one-get-one-free drink specials. There are 12 beer taps, half of which are dedicated to craft beers from the likes of Devil’s Backbone and Flying Dog. Nguyen says they’re working on a seasonal cocktail menu.
There will be a DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
